Artificial Intelligence service specialist ESTsoft (CEO Jung Sang-won) announced on the 30th that they received the Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency Award for the excellent result of second place in the comprehensive numerical analysis field at the '2021 Artificial Intelligence Online Competition'.

The award ceremony was held at the L Tower in Yangjae-dong on the 28th, attended by the participating teams and government officials who had achieved excellent results in their respective tasks.

The '2021 Artificial Intelligence Online Competition' was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency, with the purpose of supporting commercialization for teams with excellent artificial intelligence (hereafter AI) algorithm development technologies through online competition.

In this competition, the 'deepest_04' team, composed of researchers from ESTsoft's AI technology research center 'AI PLUS Lab', participated in the numerical analysis field and achieved second place overall, achieving first place in a specific task, the 'Power Quality Classification Model for Power Facility Fault Response'.

This model is a multi-class task that predicts the status (normal, caution, warning) of power facilities based on about 20 measured characteristic (feature) data on power facility energy usage patterns, and with the importance of quality in electricity generation and supply, it aims to utilize AI and IT technologies for smart grids and smart meters (meters) business to improve energy efficiency and quality.

ESTsoft's Senior Researcher Byun Hyeong-jin said, "I am glad to prove the excellence of ESTsoft's AI technology with advanced deep learning technology," and added, "With the government support received through this award, we will focus on follow-up research and work hard to successfully commercialize the various AI technologies we are currently developing."

Currently, ESTsoft has been focusing on developing AI core technologies since establishing the corporate research institute 'A.I. PLUS Lab' in 2017 for the purpose of AI technology research and has been introducing various artificial intelligence technologies, including the commercialization of AI-based virtual glasses fitting and the debut of the digital human technology AI announcer through YTN, a domestic news channel.

Moreover, ESTsoft has been producing external research results by continuously presenting papers at three major artificial intelligence conferences known as ICLR (International Conference on Learning Representations), ICML (International Conference on Machine Learning).

Meanwhile, ESTsoft is planning to host 'AI PLUS 2021', a conference where domestic AI experts participate and share AI technology on the topic of 'Pragmatic AI and Metaverse', through YouTube streaming in a non-face-to-face manner from October 6th to 7th today.
