ESTsoft and Lotte Duty Free have partnered to innovate shopping services based on artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) technologies.

AI service specialist ESTsoft (CEO Jung Sang-won) has successfully supplied its in-house developed real-time virtual fitting technology for glasses and sunglasses to Lotte Duty Free (CEO Lee Kap) on the 28th.

At the ESTsoft's in-house AI research center, 'AI PLUS Lab,' the real-time virtual fitting technology which allows easy trying on of glasses and sunglasses was developed, and this technology is being serviced through its subsidiary Deep Eye in the online glasses shopping mall ‘ROUNZ’ app.

In fact, in the ROUNZ app, users can try thousands of glasses and sunglasses with a simple photo shoot using the 'photo type' virtual fitting, and can also try on products while changing them just as looking in a real mirror with the 'mirror type' virtual fitting provided through AR technology.

The technology is characterized by providing a wearing experience similar to actual fitting by implementing the feeling of wearing depending on the angle and direction of the face in real time, and even the nose pad height of glasses or sunglasses can be adjusted when worn.

ESTsoft's virtual fitting technology has been applied to the completely revamped Lotte Duty Free mobile app on the 27th of this month, marking the first introduction of AI-based glasses and sunglasses virtual fitting technology in the duty-free industry.

Prior to the technology supply, both companies signed a business agreement (MOU) based on 'AI·AR technology cooperation' in May last year, and subsequently collaborated on ▲ Cooperation for development and introduction of AI·AR technology, ▲ Discovery of e-commerce service innovation methods, ▲ Collaborative efforts to provide differentiated value to customers.

The supply of virtual fitting technology is the first step in mutual cooperation, and it can now be experienced through the 'AR TRY ON' feature in the newly revamped Lotte Duty Free mobile app.

Currently, the Lotte Duty Free mobile app offers a real-time virtual fitting feature that allows customers to try on popular international luxury sunglasses such as Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga without visiting a duty free store.

CEO Jung Sang-won of ESTsoft stated, “With the recent spread of untact (non-face-to-face) consumer culture due to the aftermath of COVID-19, I’m pleased that we could supply our real-time glasses and sunglasses virtual fitting technology to Lotte Duty Free, the number one duty-free shop in Korea. ESTsoft has been researching AI technology since 2015 and is technically prepared to welcome the upcoming metaverse era with virtual fitting and AI virtual humans based on AR technology. We will continue to make efforts to provide services that make our lives more convenient in various ways,” he said.

Meanwhile, the virtual fitting technology applied to the Lotte Duty Free mobile app this time is one of the latest AI vision technologies developed by the ESTsoft AI Lab by combining face recognition technology and glasses modeling technology, and has completed patent registration in March last year.
