Eyewear (prescription glasses, sunglasses, and other vision-related products) shopping mall 'ROUNZ' has taken its first step in coexistence with opticians. When users order some products on the ROUNZ app and set the optician's office as the place to receive them, they have agreed to provide the products free of charge. Users will then get prescription lenses fitted at the optician's office where they receive the products.

ROUNZ announced on the 24th that it will run this coexistence promotion for about 3 months until June. ROUNZ said, "We have prepared this promotion to help partner opticians who have lost customers due to COVID-19; the opticians will attract new customers, and users will benefit from being able to get glasses for only the cost of the lenses at the optician's office," they explained.

ROUNZ has partnerships with 379 opticians nationwide. The ROUNZ app allows users to order products and receive them at partner opticians. When receiving products at an optician's, there is also a 'Blue Circle Campaign' that offers a 10~20% discount on the price of the glasses frame, which has been in operation since last year.

This promotion is the first step taken after ROUNZ agreed last November to continue discussions with the Opticians Association regarding the online sale of single-focus glasses. After about 5 months of planning from July last year, ROUNZ signed an agreement after 8 formal meetings with the Association under the mediation of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. This was an example where the government's 'One Step Model' led to an agreement.

The promotion applies to ROUNZ's own eyewear brand 'ROUNZ Basic' introduced by ROUNZ on the 24th. ROUNZ Basic was made by ROUNZ with the concept that 'everyone should be able to experience good quality glasses at a reasonable price.' They developed the product by analyzing data from 100,000 users accumulated over time using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Specifically, they featured ? sizes that can accommodate various face shapes and sizes, ? silicone nose pads to help keep the glasses securely on the bridge of the nose, ? and weights that are comfortable even when worn for a long time. You can choose from seven different metal frames and three colors. It was launched at 45,000 won, and can be purchased for 19,900 won until the end of this month.
